20044月より青年海外協力隊セネガル村落開発普及員。村落調査、保健啓発活動を中心に、村落部での社会開発に重視。

1995-2000年の広島大学法学部在学中、インドやカンボジア、水俣にて地域振興のNGO活動に参加。各地で青年層の将来への希望、熱意に触れ、地域開発のダイナミズムを感じる。大学4年時、マラヤ大学短期留学。

大学卒業後、マレーシア人実務者から見た国際関係を学ぶべく、再び渡馬。マレーシア国立大学大学院にて国際関係論、日本の対東南アジア外交政策を専攻。同時に、「中進国」としてのマレーシアの顔も垣間見る。この頃からアフリカへ興味を持ち始める。

大学院修了後、民間企業にて2年間アジア金融IT市場調査、中期経営計画などを担当。会社員時代、参加していた勉強会にて、国際機関を目指す同志に刺激され、国際協力の現場経験を積むべく青年海外協力隊を受験。
セネガルでも「10
年後のセネガル」に希望を託した、熱意に満ちたセネガル人青年層に出会い、地域開発の一助となるよう活動努力を続ける。初めて足を踏み入れたアフリカ大陸にて、新鮮な毎日を送っている。赴任中は「参加型」開発の追及、およびエイズ予防活動をはじめとした保健啓発活動に取り組み、人々の行動変容へ至るプロセスを観察・分析していきたいと考えている。

1. What I do now:

 As a rural development officer, I work for the rural development in Senegal since April 2004. I facilitate the people to have opportunities for their capacity building.

1-1. My Thematic Expertise / Interest

 I specialized in Japanese foreign policy to Southeast Asia. Particularly now I’m interested in the development in West Africa compared with Southeast Asia. Also I’m interested in the Senegalese policy for preventing HIV/AIDS.

1-2. My Geographical Experience / Interest

 Studying in Malaysia for 2 years gave me a bigger picture of the development in developing countries. So far I’m interested in the human and social development in Africa compared with Southeast Asia.

 International Development….it’s interesting and dynamic! I think that being involved in international development helps me develop myself in the sense of career as well as a life.

 Currently I’m involved in the rural development of Senegal as a JOCV. Here, everyday I discover the people’s reality in a developing country.

2-4. About being a Japanese national

 I’m proud of being a Japanese. I think its culture, society and the way of thinking is worth being well evaluated.

 I listen to people in rural areas. I seek for the rules of external expertise in their reality.
